Hello & Welcome! I cannot think of a more perfect combination than ART + POTTERY infused with children’s storybooks! If you have a maker at home who loves to work with clay and explore art, or a child you’d love to expose to more art experiences, come join us! In this unique after-school class created for kids, grades K-5, we will be alternating between hand building clay (kiln-fired) and mixed media projects. At the top of each class, I will read one of my favorite children's books to introduce & inspire our project theme and conversation of the day. Whether it’s character inspiration, an idea, a feeling, seasonal or culturally influenced, or focused on creative style & illustrations, one thing is for sure, Tuesdays after-school will be Epic this fall! Here’s my books picks + projects for Oct-Nov session: • 10/19 What Do You Do With an Idea? By Kobi Yamada Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mystery Box • 10/26 Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak Monster Pots Day #1 (build + artist James DeRosso) • 11/2 Stellaluna by Janell Cannon Sand Art + Cultural Connections (Navajo Indians, Tibet's mandala, India's Rangoli) • 11/9 Press Here by Herve Tullet Monster Pots Day #2 (glaze) + it’s Art Game Day! • 11/16 Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty We will build battery operated Art Bots (STEAM) • 11/23 Thank you Omu by Oge Mora Collage on Canvas influenced by author/illustrator Mora *Monster Pots will go home with students on last day of class. *Mask up, no food, water OK!
