Service Description

Epic Flowers, mixed media Pedestal Cakes & Pottery, what's not to love? It's about to get wildly fun in camp this week for our youngest artists and makers! I will be introducing rich, artistic hands-on projects that focus on color, shape and texture, AND we will work “up” to construct a 3D clay pot. My mini maker program is designed to inspire young explorers and provide them with many opportunities to build their social and creative skills. It's definitely a happy place where we dig into Epic amounts of supplies, make cool artwork, and really enjoy the creative process together! This weeks project entail a nature-inspired "STAINED GLASS" COLLAGE using FRESH FLOWERS from my kid-fav botanical cutting station! We will also take inspiration from the late Wayne Thiebaud and other sweet art masters, to create a vibrant 2D mixed media BIRTHDAY CAKE on a pedestal covered with oodles of goodies. To top off our art-filled week, we will exercise our CLAY hand building muscles and construct UP a sweet pinch pot! I cannot wait to see what the kids will make this week! EPIC CELEBRATION • Friday @11:30am • Join us as we celebrate our artists with a gallery show in the studio! PLEASE BRING WITH YOU TO CAMP • Wear a mask everyday & bring another mask • Snacks (nut-free/see Epic Policies for details) & labeled water bottle • Clothes & shoes for getting art-FULLY messy & possible stained. • Pre-applied sunscreen and/or cap as you see fit for outside brain breaks. NOTES NOTES NOTES 1. Clay projects will go home with students on last day of class. If not, due to kiln schedules, I will drop off at your house, or you will be contacted to stop by and pick up your pieces. 2. Ceramics is a multi-step process. There are many variables along the way that may result in breakage, color inconsistencies, etc. Unfortunately, surprises are out of my hands and also part of the many challenges and Epic adventures of working with clay. 3. Glue guns are a necessary tool for building projects. Please note, I will facilitate, and any interns, all gluing unless student asks and passes a glue gun test competently. 4. Epic Art believes in the wonderful & unique benefits of multiage classrooms.
