Service Description

Nano Academy's Pottery Tuesday in FEB is a 3-week (no class 2/16 during midwinter break) for for child(ren) 6-12 yrs., in-studio at Blakely Hall that will teach students the art of slab rolling, coiling, and/or making pinch pots, slumps, and/or building with armatures! Pottery class is a fabulous opportunity whether you are a beginner or experienced, to explore the mess, the excitement, and the challenges of working with clay. During this play with clay class, we do two (2) projects: a main kiln-fired piece + a smaller clay project using other clay materials. FEBRUARY PROJECTS To celebrate Black History month, we will learn about the history of Face Jugs and why they were brought to United States by African slaves and folk art. We will practice our hand-building techniques to create a whimsical and functional ceramic mugs! We will also create a sweet little Heart Keyring for that someone special! DETAILS *Tuition: $35. per 90-min class / 4-5:30PM / 4-week session – includes all materials (clays, glaze, etc.) + kiln firing costs + a 10% SIBLING discount only (use Code: EPICSIB2021). Please snack your mini me before class, masks UP upon arrival, NO FOOD and if you need to send water, the break will be outside the studio (with my watchful eye), thank you! Angela notes: Working with clay is a wonderfully therapeutic & calming medium. It is chock-full of sensory & fine motor skill development that naturally stimulates self-expression and confidence.
