A WONDER Workshop is an open-ended, kid-lead, play-based learning event. It is a fabulous opportunity for kids at any age, to enjoy the process of exploring materials with no right or wrong, and to experience art making on their own terms! Wonder Workshops are once a month. Each workshop will focus on a different art medium, tools or technique. Sometimes, but not always, workshops will be artist-inspired because exposing children to artists & innovators is a way to give them an idea of what is possible! WHAT WILL YOU MAKE IN JANUARY? The technique we will use is called collagraph printmaking because we create a raised design by applying foam shapes to the surface of a larger than average wood block (stamp on it) to make a print. Prints will be similar but not exact each time we make a print. I will have samples to share what is possible and to chat about design, pattern, and color. Each student will be given a wooden block to play and create a series of patterns on paper. The wooden block is for them to take home and is an excellent creative activity to add to and play at home. DETAILS Do NOT wear anything you don't want to get artfully messy and possibly stained. Some of the sheets will be WET-ISH so please bring an old sheet or blanket in the car to set the works of art on to transport home.
