Service Description

Big, giant art projects are some of my very favorite Epic Art activities for kids. They’re super involving and kids tend to get lost in their creation & collaboration process! This week, artists will build a magnificent weatherproof 3D creature, in other words, a mega public sculpture! Of course, if you prefer it to be inside, that is up to you! We will talk about so many cool things this week like, what is public art, what is it how is it typically made, and what do we see around us in Issaquah, or Seattle? Inspired by master artists like, Claes Oldenburg, Louise Bourgeois, Niki de Saint Phalle, and Alexander Calder, campers will learn through exploring various traditional and non-traditional materials to stretch their creative muscles, imaginations, and building skills (balance, weight, form, shape, pattern, color). My other favorite thing to do is printmaking, and this week, we will discover the magical world of LINO CUT printing (lino block & carving tools). This will be an EPIC week of fun & creativity, and I cannot wait to see what the kids make! CELEBRATION & AWARD CEREMONY At the end of the day on Thursday, please joins us at 2:30 to celebrate our artists with an Epic award ceremony & party! MULTIAGE ART EDUCATION Epic Art supports multi-age art classrooms and has found that both younger and older students thrive in this type of creative, positive, and collaborative atmosphere, which can lead to endless opportunities for learning for all students. At Epic, we teach as a whole group, and then break up into small groups for guided instruction and individual support. Our pace is dictated by our Epic students and our mission is to ignite imaginations & support each students’ voice and vision.
